The ingredient Se is extracted from the leaves of lemon myrtle (Backhousia citriodora), a tree native to the humid semi-temperate rain forests of eastern Australia. Due to hormonal fluctuations, an imbalance in sebum production may occur at the time of puberty and cause an outbreak of acne. This disturbance can also occur when the skin is exposed to environmental aggression such as pollution or UV rays.

The ingredient exerts a sebum regulating action, that is to say, it limits the excretion of sebum by the skin. The shine of the skin is thus reduced, which gives it a more matte appearance.
