Gluconolactone is a type of polyhydroxy acid or PHA. This ingredient gently exfoliates and moisturizes the surface of the skin.

PHAs have exfoliating and moisturizing properties similar to alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), but are less sensitizing and therefore better suited for sensitive skin.
